We're fortunate to represent families with special needs children - kids with cerebral palsy, paralysis, learning disabilites and developmental delay.
One of our families will get the justice they deserve after winning at trial and now on appeal.
This medical malpractice case was caused by a doctor not following up on a test he ordered for a young pregnant woman. The doctor never followed up on test results, didn't re-test to see if she had an infection or treat her infection, which caused her baby to be born prematurely and suffer many of the consequences of prematurity that left him with cerebral palsy, a severe injury to his brain, and paralysis. He can't care for himself or live independently.
His mom came to us when he was 20, after other law firms had said they could not pursue the case (in D.C. a minor can file a legal case up to age 21). With a lot of hard work, we were able to establish that the doctor didn't follow the established rules at the time of his treatment and that caused the severe injuries this young man has.
With this - and every medical malpractice case - it has to make a significant difference in the family's life, getting the resources the child or young person can use to make his or her life better. That's what its all about.
