At Donahoe Kearney, we get a lot of phone calls inquiring about representation for workers' compensation, serious auto injury, or medical malpractice. We love receiving these calls because that means that you're either seen our website and liked what you saw, or you were referred by somebody who knows us and that means a lot. We don't advertise, so we rely on referrals and believe us when we say we appreciate each and every one of you.
You may be wondering, however, if Donahoe Kearney is the right fit for your case. Perhaps you've called six different law firms and spoken with six different people or gotten six different recordings. That's not how we operate. We answer each phone call, so that when you call us, you're going to be speaking to a real person who understands what you are going through, will talk to you and will try to help you.
As much as we would love to take every case that comes to us; the reality is that our practice is selective because we believe in quality representation rather than volume. This means that if we take your case, you are not given to some kid right out of law school, you don't have to call 17 times before you get an update and you're not the first time we've handled a case like this.
A couple of basic things you might want to know about representation is that sometimes, unfortunately, it is about numbers. If the cost of going forward with your case exceeds your potential settlement or verdict, it may not make financial sense for you to pursue the case. We don't want to put you through litigation that will just end up paying your costs and attorneys' fees and leave nothing for you. If that's the case, we tell you that straight up. And that's why we have written books on how to deal with life-altering medical malpractice and other injuries which are available to you for free, for the asking. We like to take care of our callers, whether or not we take their case.
Sometimes we refer cases to other attorneys for geographic reasons. and/or we believe that your case would be a better fit with one of the attorneys with whom we have a referral relationship. We have longstanding relationships with several attorneys in the area: attorneys that we trust will do a great job with your case. Unfortunately we do not handle cases dealing with local or federal government because these are handled in a specific way that falls outside our practice areas.
In circumstances with workers' comp, often times a lower dollar-value case with the right set of circumstances can be handled pro-se (which means representing self). We can set you up with some information to get you started in handling your own workers' compensation claim in Washington, D.C. This packet will include the latest edition of Protect Your Rights: the Ultimate Guide to D.C. Workers' Compensation, two additional reports, filing forms, and a one-page summary of how to file your claim and some tips for doing so.
All of this is absolutely free. All we ask is that if you like our books, guides and reports, that you leave us an online review once you have read the materials! We love reviews and can take them on Google Plus, Facebook, Avvo, and Yelp!
