Unfortunately, you've been in an accident. It's likely not a very pleasant situation - you may be injured, panicked, angry or scared (or some combination of all three) especially if the other driver was at fault. So, it can be a little hard to think clearly. That's why it's important to get information like this BEFORE it happens to you, so that you can know beforehand the steps to take to put yourself in the best position possible. Read our blog here for more information about understanding what to do after an accident.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, the right one could help you win your case.
But, it's important that you do. Photographic evidence is great evidence.
With pictures you can more convincingly show who was at fault, the damage done to both vehicles, and all this will help you get the compensation you deserve if you were seriously hurt.
Even if you cannot take pictures immediately after an accident, take pictures as soon as you can. Ask a family member, neighbor, or someone else at the scene to take pictures, so that there is some documentation of the accident available to you.
And of course, only take pictures if you can safely do so, after attending to any injuries.
Here are some tips to keep in mind while taking pictures:
1) Take many - you want to get a good shot of the car, the people, the weather conditions, insurance cards, everything you can think of that might be useful in proving your case.
2) Use different angles - everything is perspective. Remember, what the other driver sees at the time of the accident is different from what you see. Take many pictures, but also take them from many angles so you can get a complete picture of what happened.
