We have compiled a list of local resources to help out with temporary needs. This is not an exhaustive list; there may be more resources out there through local charities, churches, and government agencies.
- Department of Employment Services (DOES), Washington, DC – File for unemployment here.

- Washington, DC Small Business Microgrant Program
- DC Dream Center – The DC Dream Center in Southeast DC has served upwards of 600 meals. They are located at 2826 Q St SE, Washington, DC 20020 and are also looking for volunteers.
- Grocery Plus Senior Food Program through the Capital Area Food Bank
- A18 Commons – Local church relief arm, various services.

- DC businesses can now apply for disaster assistance loans: https://coronavirus.dc.gov/recovery-business
- The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (Act) by the Federal Government guarantees employees up to 80 hours of paid sick leave and expanded paid child care leave for COVID-19 related reasons. Employers will receive reimbursement through credits offsetting payroll taxes. Employers with fewer than 50 employees are eligible to be exempted in cases where the viability of the business is threatened. Go here for complete details

- https://www.khanacademy.org/ - It is a free database of people teaching various topics from several fields of study. High school and even some middle school students may find it helpful in keeping them sharp while on this extended absence from school. They also have Khan Academy Kids, which is an app and a site for students working on less

- https://www.thespanishexperiment.com – Well-known children’s stories translated into Spanish and spoken by a native Spanish speaker. Read along in Spanish or English.

- https://www.metopera.org – Metropolitan Opera offers “nightly Met Opera Streams”. Will present encores of past performances from the Livein HD series. Begin @ 7:30 pm EST each night.
