A Waldorf resident on her way to the gym was hit by a young driver who ran a red light and "T-boned" her, crushing the passenger side of her small SUV, which was totaled.
Ultimately, the young driver's insurance company agreed she was at fault but wouldn't agree to a reasonable settlement. A retired judge decided the case based on testimony from the injured driver and the medical evidence of her orthopedic surgeon.
The injured driver had just retired at the time of the accident, but has since recovered sufficiently to return to another line of work part time. She tried to do much of her physical therapy and rehab at a gym and became dedicated to exercise and fitness, losing nearly 50 pounds since the accident despite her serious injuries.
The settlement included medical expenses and pain and suffering for the injuries caused by the accident.
