How to Prepare for a Workers Compensation Insurance Adjuster

If you were hurt on the job, your employer’s insurance company will assign an insurance adjuster to your case.

What Is An Insurance Adjuster?

A typical adjuster has handled hundreds, even thousands of cases over their career.  Remember, the adjuster’s job is to help the insurance company pay less money for your worker’s compensation. And if they can get you on the phone and get you to make a mistake by saying the wrong thing, they WILL use that against you. Insurance companies WILL try to deny or delay the compensation you are rightfully entitled to.

So before you have you even speak to an adjuster or sign any forms, you need to be prepared. You can start by making sure you remember all the details of how the accident happened, your injuries, and most importantly – by educating yourself about the process. Too many people make the mistake of not educating themselves before they talk to the insurance company.

Be Cautious When Speaking with an Adjuster

Do not sign any forms with the insurance company until you have all the information you need to make an informed decision to protect your future for you and your family. It is not the insurance adjuster’s job to give you legal advice or help you. Once you’re hurt on the job, you’re on your own.

Not to mention that the average insurance adjuster’s salary in the United States is $60,990. That salary for all the stress of managing literally hundreds of files, all the stress of limiting people’s benefits and protecting the bottom line at all costs. You can bet that most insurance adjusters are not happy to help you.
